The investment analyst will join a close-knit, highly motivated research team, contributing to the fund manager’s efforts to achieve superior fund performance by identifying good businesses having high potential for growth. This role requires a strong sense of ownership and responsibility in supporting the fund manager’s strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will be one who possesses a blend of analytical thinking, curiosity, and passion for equities. They should be proactive, seeking ownership of their work, and be comfortable with both field and desk-based research.

Role Specifications

  • This role is for a generalist who engages in all facets of research and demonstrates strong analytical skills.
  • Monitor daily news updates, company announcements and reports, and key corporate events and compile comprehensive dossiers.
  • Analyse both quantitative and qualitative elements of businesses, including peers, governance, management, capital allocation, alternative options within the value chain, value migration across the value chain.
  • Construct financial models in Excel to assess and monitor the financial performance of companies under observation.
  • Conduct thorough, independent research on companies, industries, and macroeconomic factors.
  • Present well-reasoned and articulated investment recommendations to the fund manager.
  • Conduct visits to company sites, engage with various stakeholders including vendors, customers, management, competitors, regulators, and financiers, to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of business prospects and drivers.
  • Uphold superior work ethics, display self-motivation and independent thinking, and maintain a results-driven approach focused on meeting deadlines and achieving outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a strong foundation in accounting principles and financial statement analysis, paired with a passion for numbers and the ability to perform thorough ground-level due diligence and channel checks.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Candidates should possess 4 to 5 years of experience in equity research, with a strong background in value investing.
  • Prior experience of tracking multiple sectors (more than 2) is preferable.
  • Preferred qualifications include an MBA from a top-tier institution, and/or CA/CFA credentials.
  • Must demonstrate strong critical thinking, analytical, research, communication, and writing abilities.
  • A high standard of intellectual integrity is required.
  • Should possess a high degree of independence, diligence, and trustworthiness.
